MLK monday

So I figured that if the state and federal government have a holiday today, then I had one too, right? Plus, none of the job-related phone calls I had to make were to people who were working today. Instead I did things like send fun text messages, clean my stupid house, and go to the movies with LesleyMom. Tomorrow, back to the mines.

And yes, I've gone on a lot of interviews. This is how the whole job-getting process works, especially for the type of job I'd like to get. It seems slow but I think that's because letting a week go by is no big whoop for the potential employer, meanwhile for me it feels like an eternity. It's like a dog years rate of conversion or something. There are two jobs that I think could be close to an offer that I'd be very happy with, but for the sake of maintaining my own sanity, I'm still sending out resumes, networking, making phone calls, etc. Any day I wake up and I don't have a job to go to is a day I spend looking for a job. Deep down, I'm optimistic and I know I will find something very soon. In the last year, I haven't always felt this way and certainly spent a lot of time feeling depressed, rejected, thinking I'm a loser, etc. As much fun as that was, I've moved on.

In other news, I really need some girl talk. Any of you want to meet me at Starbucks tomorrow? This is when I wish Starbucks had a magic portal that could transport you to any other Starbucks in the world. Wouldn't that be cool? Science people, get to work on that!

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Oh the job hunt...I used to get so frustrated with the potential employees taking their time. But you're right, a week to them isn't as big of a deal cuz they're getting paid. But you seem to have the right spirit now.

I'd love to meet at Starbucks. Let me know when you get that portal up and running.
