serpentine
Today's word of the day? Serpentine!!!
You see, this morning I got up, did a few things around the house, went to the gym, worked out, drove home, did my job search things, and then around 6:00 I needed to leave to go to a class I'm taking. When I started up the Beetle then, I had no power steering and the alternator light was on. Fuckinghell!!! I did some googling and found out that the culprit was the serpentine belt. This is both good and bad. Good because it's not hideously expensive to fix, but bad because it's a car repair and those cost money. I called the dealer and they told me I could drive the car there without power steering, but being the fan of safety that I am, I'm opting to instead call for a tow first thing in the morning. I have to drive through a rather tricky traffic circle on my way to the dealer and a traffic circle without power steering? Yeah, I will pass on that action, thank you very much.
Some weeks I feel like I just can't take One More Thing Going Wrong. I almost went to the bad place when I realized that the Beetle was sick. Almost. You see, I do my Lesley bestest to stay positive right now but even I'll admit it gets hard. Job searching? Very, very hard. I had six interviews for a great job, all feedback was positive, they claimed they'd be calling soon with an offer, we agreed on a salary, and now this week: crickets. This has happened 4 or 5 times since my Unemployment Adventure began. It's soul-crushing, it really is. But, like I said, I do what I can to stay positive. Every day I do everything I possibly can to look for a new job, and I can't help but believe that this will happen for me very soon.
And besides, I have other things to be happy about right now. If you know what I mean. And I believe you do!
Good night.
